WoW Forever Collector's Edition Is Up for Pre-Purchase - Here's What You Actually Get

Blizzard has opened pre-purchases for the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector's Edition, and this is one of those announcements where reading the fine print matters almost as much as admiring the statue.

The biggest thing to understand is simple: you do not need to buy a new expansion box to play World of Warcraft: Forever. When Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026, access is included with an active World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time.

The paid options are upgrades. They unlock the new Skyborne race and Zephras Isle starting experience, cosmetics, early name reservation, beta access at the higher tiers, and - in the case of the physical Collector's Edition - a proper shelf-filling bundle built around a 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue.

So before you throw money at the Gear Store because the box looks good, here is what each edition actually gives you and who it makes sense for.

Quick answer:
WoW: Forever itself is included with a normal WoW subscription or Game Time. The Collector's Edition is an optional physical bundle containing a 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue, Zephras Isle mousepad, art prints, collectible pins, companion journal and a Warcraft Forever Collection digital code. Digital packs are sold separately if you only want the Skyborne race, beta access, cosmetics or the Warcraft III bundle.

WoW Forever Editions - Quick Comparison

  • No upgrade — Main extras: Forever access with WoW Subscription or Game Time — Best for: Players who simply want to play at launch
  • Skyborne Heroic Pack — Main extras: Skyborne race, Zephras Isle, Early Name Reservation, mount, cosmetics, housing decor, 1 friend code — Best for: Players mainly interested in Skyborne
  • Skyborne Epic Pack — Main extras: Everything in Heroic plus beta access, 30 days Game Time, more cosmetics, pets, tabards, 3 total friend codes — Best for: Players who want beta access and the fuller WoW package
  • Warcraft Forever Collection — Main extras: Everything in Epic plus Warcraft III: Reforged, Forsaken Kingdom and Housing figurine decor — Best for: Players who want both WoW: Forever and the Warcraft III story bridge
  • Collector's Edition — Main extras: Warcraft Forever Collection code plus physical statue, mousepad, art prints, pins and journal — Best for: Physical collectors and long-time Warcraft fans

What's Inside the WoW Forever Collector's Edition?

The physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector's Edition is the obvious centerpiece of the announcement. Blizzard has gone for a very old-school Warcraft feel rather than filling the box with random branded merchandise.

The physical contents are:

  • 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue
  • Zephras Isle mousepad
  • Art prints
  • Collectible pins
  • Companion journal
  • Warcraft Forever Collection digital code

The statue is naturally going to get most of the attention. Dwarves and bears are about as classic-Azeroth as a Collector's Edition centerpiece can get, and a 13-inch display piece gives this box a much stronger identity than a bundle built almost entirely around digital rewards.

The rest of the physical extras are fairly traditional Collector's Edition material, but that is not necessarily a criticism. Art prints, pins and a journal fit the audience Blizzard is aiming at here: players who want something from this new version of Azeroth sitting on a shelf long after launch week ends.

The Collector's Edition Also Includes the Warcraft Forever Collection

The physical box does not stop at the statue. Its digital code unlocks the Warcraft Forever Collection, which is the highest of Blizzard's digital WoW: Forever bundles.

That means the Collector's Edition also includes the Skyborne Epic Pack, Warcraft III: Reforged and the new Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom campaign.

That Warcraft III connection is more relevant than it may first appear. Forever is set after the events of Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, so the Collection effectively bundles the new WoW experience with the strategy-game story that leads into it.

Players also receive Forsaken and Human Figurine decor for Housing in modern World of Warcraft through the Warcraft Forever Collection.

Skyborne Heroic Pack - The Entry Upgrade

The Skyborne Heroic Pack is the smallest paid WoW: Forever upgrade. Importantly, this is not the price of admission to Forever itself. Think of it as the package for players who specifically want access to the new Skyborne race and its extras.

The Heroic Pack includes:

  • Access to the new Skyborne race
  • The Zephras Isle starting experience
  • Early Name Reservation before launch
  • Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount
  • Shen'dorei Skyseer's Garb
  • Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack
  • Shen'dorei Windwell toy
  • Skyborne-themed Housing decor for modern World of Warcraft
  • One Invite-A-Friend Launch Code

Wowhead lists the Skyborne Heroic Pack at $29.99 in the US. Regional pricing can differ, so the Battle.net Shop is still the place to check your actual local price before buying.

One detail worth noting: the Cerulean Prideclaw is a ground mount and players still need to purchase the appropriate riding skill in-game before they can use it.

Skyborne Epic Pack - This Is Where Beta Access Starts

If your main reason for buying early is the beta, the Heroic Pack is not enough. Blizzard places beta access in the Skyborne Epic Pack and the Warcraft Forever Collection.

The Epic Pack contains everything from the Heroic tier and adds:

  • World of Warcraft: Forever Beta access beginning September 17
  • 30 days of World of Warcraft Game Time added starting November 4
  • Additional Veteran Adventurer-themed cosmetics
  • Lordaeron and Shen'dorei tabards
  • Additional pets for WoW: Forever
  • Two extra Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes, for three total

The Forever beta runs from September 17 through October 21, 2026. That gives Epic Pack and Collection buyers more than a month to explore the new version of Azeroth before the November launch.

For players who were going to pay for a month of WoW anyway, the included 30 days of Game Time also makes the Epic tier easier to evaluate than a cosmetics-only upgrade.

Warcraft Forever Collection - The Digital Everything Bundle

The Warcraft Forever Collection is the broadest digital option and is also the digital bundle included with the physical Collector's Edition.

It contains everything in the Skyborne Epic Pack, plus:

  • Warcraft III: Reforged
  • Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom
  • Forsaken Figurine decor for Housing in modern WoW
  • Human Figurine decor for Housing in modern WoW

Blizzard says the Warcraft Forever Collection is a limited-time bundle and will remain available through January 11, 2027.

If you already own Warcraft III: Reforged, the value calculation obviously changes. The Collection is much easier to justify for someone who wants the new Forsaken Kingdom campaign and does not already own the base RTS.

Do You Need to Buy WoW Forever?

No. This is probably the single most important line in the entire announcement.

World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026 and is included with an active World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. If all you want is to log in and play Forever when it goes live, you do not need the Heroic Pack, Epic Pack, Warcraft Forever Collection or physical Collector's Edition.

The paid editions are for additional race access, cosmetics, early name reservation, beta access, included Game Time, Warcraft III content or physical collectibles.

That makes Forever closer to the way Blizzard handles Classic access than a normal retail expansion launch. The game itself sits behind the subscription, while the optional bundles sell the extras.

WoW Forever Beta Starts September 17

World of Warcraft: Forever Beta begins September 17, 2026 and runs through October 21.

Beta access is included with the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection. Because the Collector's Edition includes the Warcraft Forever Collection code, Blizzard says beta-code redemption instructions for qualifying Collector's Edition purchases will be delivered by email.

If beta access is the only thing you care about, check the edition carefully before buying. The Heroic Pack includes the Skyborne race and other launch perks, but it does not include the beta.

Early Name Reservation Runs October 27 Through November 3

Every WoW: Forever upgrade purchase includes Early Name Reservation, which will be available from October 27 through November 3, 2026.

Players can create and customize up to three characters during the reservation period. Names are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, so buying an upgrade does not guarantee that the name you have been protecting since 2004 will still be available when you arrive.

For some players, especially those planning to recreate an old Vanilla character, this may be one of the more practical benefits of buying before launch.

Invite-A-Friend Codes Let Friends Try Launch Week

Blizzard is also using the paid packs to make launch week a little more social.

The Skyborne Heroic Pack includes one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code. The Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection include three total codes.

Eligible friends can use those codes to access WoW: Forever from November 4 through November 11 without their own subscription or Game Time for that launch-week window. Blizzard plans to start sending the codes by email on October 20.

There are eligibility restrictions and gift purchases are excluded, so this is not quite a stack of universal seven-day trial keys. Still, it is a smart bonus for a version of WoW that Blizzard keeps describing around community, grouping and rediscovering Azeroth together.

Already Buying the Physical Edition? Be Careful With Digital Double Purchases

There is one useful option for players who want the physical Collector's Edition but do not want to wait for its digital benefits.

Blizzard says you can purchase a Warcraft Forever Collection or another WoW: Forever digital product separately, and some qualifying digital purchases may later receive Battle.net Balance credit equal to the amount paid when you redeem your Collector's Edition code by December 31, 2027.

The important word is some. Blizzard explicitly warns that not every product or upgrade path qualifies, and certain cases may require assistance from Customer Support.

So do not assume that buying the same benefits twice automatically means a cash refund. Check Blizzard's support rules for your exact upgrade path first.

Who Is the Collector's Edition Actually For?

If you look at the Collector's Edition purely as a way to access WoW: Forever, it makes almost no sense - because Forever itself already comes with your subscription.

That is also why this box is easier to judge honestly than a normal expansion Collector's Edition. You are not paying to avoid missing the game. You are paying because you want the physical object and the premium digital bundle that comes with it.

For a long-time Warcraft collector, the Dwarf and Bear statue is the real argument. For a player who only wants Skyborne, the Heroic Pack is the cleaner route. For someone chasing the beta, Epic is where the relevant benefits begin. And if you want the Warcraft III story bridge as well, the Forever Collection is the obvious digital package.

That separation is good for players. The box can be expensive and unapologetically collectible without pretending everyone needs it on launch day.

Which WoW Forever Edition Should You Choose?

The simplest way to choose is to ignore the names and decide which benefit you actually care about.

  • If you only want to play WoW: Forever at launch: buy nothing beyond your normal WoW Subscription or Game Time.
  • If you mainly want the Skyborne race and starting experience: look at the Skyborne Heroic Pack.
  • If you want beta access: choose the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection.
  • If you also want Warcraft III: Reforged and Forsaken Kingdom: choose the Warcraft Forever Collection.
  • If the 13-inch Dwarf and Bear statue is the reason you are here: the physical Collector's Edition is the only option that matters.

It is unusually easy to overspend here because Blizzard is selling several overlapping bundles at once. Start with the one exclusive feature you actually want and work upward from there.

Final Thoughts

The most interesting thing about the WoW: Forever Collector's Edition is that Blizzard is not using it to sell access to the game itself.

Forever is already included with a normal WoW subscription. That leaves the paid editions to do exactly what premium editions should do: sell optional extras to the people who actually want them.

The Heroic Pack is about Skyborne. The Epic Pack adds the beta and a broader pile of in-game rewards. The Warcraft Forever Collection connects the launch to Warcraft III and Forsaken Kingdom. And the physical Collector's Edition exists for the person who looked at a 13-inch Dwarf riding alongside a bear and immediately started clearing shelf space.

For once, the correct buying advice is refreshingly simple: if none of those extras matter to you, keep your subscription and show up on November 4. Azeroth will still be there.
