WoW Midnight Is 40% Off – Battle.net Sale, Prices, Services

Blizzard has launched one of the biggest World of Warcraft: Midnight discounts so far, cutting 40% from all three digital editions of the expansion on the Battle.net Shop. The promotion covers the Base, Heroic and Epic editions and runs through September 13, 2026.

The timing is especially interesting for returning players. WoW Midnight Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek has just arrived, while Midnight Season 2 begins the following week with the Venomous Abyss raid, a new Mythic+ rotation, Bountiful Delves and a new PvP season.

The Battle.net promotion is not limited to the expansion itself. Blizzard is also discounting selected World of Warcraft game services by up to 33%, including character-related services and the Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost.

Below you will find the current Midnight sale prices, the differences between the three editions, the promotion end dates and a quick answer to the most important question: is this actually a good time to buy or return to World of Warcraft?

Quick answer:
World of Warcraft: Midnight is currently 40% off on Battle.net through September 13. Selected WoW game services are also up to 33% off through August 24. Prices vary by region, but the European sale puts the three Midnight editions at roughly €30, €42 and €54.

How Much Does WoW Midnight Cost During the 40% Sale?

All three World of Warcraft: Midnight editions are included in the 40% promotion. In the European pricing highlighted during the sale, the discounts bring the editions down to approximately the following prices:

Base Edition - Regular Price: €50 - Sale Price: €30 - Discount: 40%
Heroic Edition - Regular Price: €70 - Sale Price: €42 - Discount: 40%
Epic Edition - Regular Price: €90 - Sale Price: €54 - Discount: 40%

Regional Battle.net pricing can differ by currency and storefront, so always check the final price shown on your local Battle.net Shop before purchasing.

Which WoW Midnight Edition Should You Buy?

A 40% discount changes the value calculation considerably, especially for the Heroic and Epic editions. The best option depends on whether you only want access to the expansion or also care about the additional digital rewards and game time.

Midnight Base Edition - Best for Most Players

The Base Edition is the cheapest way to access World of Warcraft: Midnight and is the strongest choice for players who simply want to play the current expansion.

Midnight editions include an Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost, which makes the Base Edition especially attractive to returning players who want to jump quickly into the current content instead of leveling a character from scratch.

At around €30 during the European promotion, the Base Edition offers the lowest entry cost into Midnight.

Midnight Heroic Edition - For Cosmetics and Collectors

The Heroic Edition includes the Base Edition content and adds additional digital rewards. At 40% off, the gap between Base and Heroic is smaller than at full price, which can make the upgrade easier to justify for players who actively collect mounts, pets or cosmetic items.

If you only care about endgame access, however, the Base Edition remains the better value.

Midnight Epic Edition - Best Value If You Need Game Time

The Epic Edition contains the Heroic Edition content and includes 30 days of World of Warcraft game time.

That is important when comparing the actual cost difference. If you already know that you will subscribe for at least a month, the included game time reduces the effective premium you are paying for the Epic Edition.

At approximately €54 during the European sale, it is significantly cheaper than its regular €90 price.

Best-value shortcut:
Choose Base if you only want to play Midnight. Consider Epic if you already need subscription time and care about the extra digital rewards. Heroic sits in the middle and makes the most sense for cosmetic collectors.

When Does the WoW Midnight 40% Sale End?

Blizzard says the 40% Midnight promotion runs through September 13, 2026.

Because Battle.net operates regional storefronts and time zones, the exact local cutoff can be displayed differently in some regions. If you plan to buy the expansion near the end of the promotion, check the timer or end time shown directly in your regional Battle.net Shop.

The important distinction is that the Midnight expansion discount lasts longer than the separate game-services promotion.

WoW Game Services Are Also Up to 33% Off

Alongside the expansion discount, Blizzard is running a shorter sale on selected World of Warcraft game services. The service promotion runs through August 24 and offers savings of up to 33%.

This is particularly useful for returning players who want to reorganize their characters before Midnight Season 2.

Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost
Character Name Change
Race Change
Faction Change packs
Paid Character Transfers

These offers can be found in the Battle.net Shop and, for supported services, through the World of Warcraft Shop from the character-select screen.

Why Is This Sale a Good Time to Return to WoW?

A discount alone does not automatically make an expansion worth buying. What makes this particular promotion more interesting is the timing.

World of Warcraft: Midnight has just received Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek, the first major content update of the expansion. The patch adds the Coiled Isle, the Altar of Fangs dungeon, new Delves, Lairs, Housing improvements, major interface changes and the next chapter of the Midnight campaign.

Midnight Season 2 then begins on August 18 in North America and August 19 in Europe, opening the Venomous Abyss raid, the new Mythic+ dungeon pool, Bountiful Delves and the new PvP season.

That means a player buying Midnight during the sale is not entering at the end of a quiet content cycle. They are arriving immediately before a fresh season and a new gearing reset.

What New Players and Returning Players Get With Midnight

Access to the current World of Warcraft expansion
An Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost included with Midnight
Quel’Thalas and the Midnight leveling experience
Player Housing
Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek content
The Coiled Isle and new outdoor activities
Season 2 raid, Mythic+, PvP and Delve progression

A World of Warcraft subscription or active game time is still required to play beyond the free-trial limitations. The Epic Edition includes 30 days of game time, while players purchasing other editions should factor subscription cost into their total budget.

Do You Need Midnight to Play World of Warcraft?

Not necessarily. A regular World of Warcraft subscription gives access to a large amount of older WoW content and the supported Classic versions of the game.

However, players who want to participate in current Retail endgame content, level through the latest Midnight expansion and play the active Season 2 progression cycle need access to Midnight.

If your goal is simply to try WoW, explore older expansions or play Classic, buying Midnight immediately is not required. If your goal is to raid, push Mythic+ or play the current Retail expansion with the majority of active endgame players, Midnight is the relevant purchase.

Is WoW Midnight Worth Buying at 40% Off?

For players already considering a return to Retail WoW, the 40% discount is much easier to recommend than paying full launch pricing.

The Base Edition is particularly attractive because it reduces the expansion entry price while still providing the core Midnight experience and the included Level 80 boost.

The timing also helps. Patch 12.1 is live and Season 2 is beginning, so a returning player can use the first days to catch up and then enter the new progression cycle while it is still fresh.

The main reason to skip the offer would be if you are only interested in Classic WoW, older expansion content or do not plan to maintain an active subscription. In that case, purchasing the current Retail expansion may provide little immediate value.

Other Battle.net Discounts Available During the Sale

The broader Battle.net promotion also includes discounts on several other Blizzard and Warcraft products. The exact selection can vary by region, but Blizzard and Wowhead highlight offers such as:

50% off Warcraft II: Remastered
25% off Diablo II: Resurrected
25% off Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection
Up to 50% off selected World of Warcraft cosmetic bundles, mounts, pets and transmogs in participating regional shops

These offers have their own end dates, so do not assume every Battle.net discount runs until the Midnight promotion ends.

What Should You Do After Buying WoW Midnight?

If you are returning to WoW because of the sale, this is a simple catch-up route:

Redeem or purchase the Midnight edition that best fits your budget.
Use the Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost if you need a current-level character.
Complete the Midnight campaign and unlock the current expansion systems.
Start the Patch 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek campaign and travel to the Coiled Isle.
Check your class changes before spending time building a Season 2 setup.
Run the new Delves and Altar of Fangs to learn the latest encounters.
Prepare for Midnight Season 2 and choose whether you want to focus on raid, Mythic+, PvP, Delves or professions.

Final Thoughts

The 40% World of Warcraft: Midnight sale is one of the strongest entry points Blizzard has offered for the expansion so far.

At roughly €30 for the Base Edition in Europe, players can get access to the current expansion and an Enhanced Level 80 Character Boost at a substantially lower price than at launch. The Heroic and Epic editions receive the same percentage reduction, while the Epic Edition becomes more appealing for players who also need 30 days of game time.

More importantly, the sale arrives at the same time as Patch 12.1 and the start of Midnight Season 2. For players who have been waiting for a reason to return to Azeroth, the combination of a lower entry price and a fresh progression season makes August and September an especially practical time to jump back in.
