WoW Patch 12.1.5 Is Live - Kith'ix Rewards, Known Issues and What to Do First
World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.1.5 is finally live, and this is one of those updates where opening the patch notes is only half the job.
Kith'ix is available immediately, including Story Mode. The Labyrinth of Kindo'jan is open. The Season 2 mid-season refresh is active. Aqir Invasions are happening across Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman. Blizzard also slipped in a large Subtlety Rogue compensation buff right before launch.
And, because this is World of Warcraft on patch day, a couple of campaign quests immediately decided they would rather become raid bosses.
The good news is that one of the main blockers has already been fixed, while Blizzard is actively working on the other.
Quick answer:
Patch 12.1.5 is live on North American realms as of October 13 and in Europe on October 14. Kith'ix Story Mode can be completed immediately and the campaign quest rewards a choice of a Hero 1/6 ring or necklace. “What the World Sees” has been fixed; “In the Belly of the Beast” remains under investigation at the time of writing.
Patch 12.1.5 - What Is Live Right Now?

- Labyrinth of Kindo'jan — Live status: Live — Why you should care: Nine-chamber Delve-style mega challenge with Mythic gear and progression rewards.
- The Promise of Tomorrow — Live status: Live — Why you should care: Continues and concludes the Quel'Thalas / Zul'Aman story arc.

- Season 2 Mid-Season Refresh — Live status: Live — Why you should care: More power, Keystone Myth at 3600 rating and targeted dungeon tuning.
- Known issues — Live status: Small official list, plus quest blockers — Why you should care: Blizzard is already hotfixing launch-day progression problems.
Kith'ix Story Mode Is Available Immediately
The most useful launch-day detail is that you do not need to wait for a later week to finish the Kith'ix story.
Story Mode for The Unbinding of Kith'ix is already available. Icy Veins reports that you can enter through the Memory of Ancient Darkness NPC near the raid entrance in the back half of the Underbelly inside the Vaults of Atal'Utek.
That matters because the campaign quest only asks you to defeat Kith'ix on any difficulty. If you are here for the story and rewards rather than organized raiding, Story Mode is the cleanest route.
You Get a Hero 1/6 Ring or Necklace for Finishing the Kith'ix Quest
The quest reward is much better than the usual 'thanks for saving the world, here is 87 gold' situation.
Completing The Unbinding of Kith'ix gives you a choice between Bloodmark Signet and Pendant of Venomous Vigil, both reported as Hero 1/6 rewards.
You also receive the Hiveborne Hearthstone toy, which is exactly the sort of ridiculous post-raid reward I want from a one-boss story finale: beat an ancient C'Thraxxi general, then turn yourself into a bug when you hearth.
The quest itself can be viewed on Wowhead here: The Unbinding of Kith'ix.
The Post-Raid Questline Has More Cosmetics
The rewards do not stop with the Hero jewelry.
The follow-up story grants the Shield of the Blood Knight Matriarch and Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch, while the full chain is also tied to the Light's Faithful title.
If you want to see the relevant quest and rewards without hunting through the database manually, Wowhead has In Victory, Grief listed with the Blood Knight cosmetics.
Kith'ix has already been killed on Mythic as well. We covered Liquid's four-pull World First separately in our Mythic Kith'ix World First article.
"What the World Sees" Has Been Fixed
Patch day briefly put part of the post-raid story behind a very different kind of boss: an NPC that simply would not cooperate.
Blizzard has now said that “What the World Sees” should be fixed. If Arator is missing on your realm, the advice is to give him some time to respawn.
So if you were blocked there earlier, it is worth going back before assuming your character is permanently stuck.
"In the Belly of the Beast" Is Still Being Investigated
The other important campaign blocker is not resolved yet.
Blizzard added “In the Belly of the Beast” to the official known-issues list and says the team is investigating cases where the quest cannot be completed.
If your progress stops there, this is not a puzzle you are supposed to solve by abandoning the quest fourteen times, deleting your cache and sacrificing a murloc to the server gods. It is a known problem.
Current status:
“What the World Sees” is fixed. “In the Belly of the Beast” is still under investigation. Because these are live hotfix targets, update the article if Blizzard changes the official status.
The Official 12.1.5 Known-Issues List Is Surprisingly Short
For a patch this large, the official list is not terrible.
- Large Karabor Fountain decor incorrectly has collision inside the water.
- Anima-Powered Kyrian Oven decor is missing collision.
- Some new decor icons can appear incorrectly on vendors.
- Battle for Azeroth War Campaign breadcrumb quests may appear after Legion and BfA reputations are converted and shared across the Warband.
- In the Belly of the Beast may currently be impossible to complete for some players.
That does not mean those are the only bugs players can encounter. It means they are the issues Blizzard has formally placed on the launch list. Labyrinth runs, UI behavior and other edge cases are already generating player reports, so keeping addons updated is especially sensible after the client patch.
Subtlety Rogue Gets a 14% Ability Damage Buff
One of the most important late changes did not come from the known-issues list at all.
Blizzard updated the 12.1.5 notes with a 14% increase to all Subtlety Rogue ability damage. The developers describe it as compensation for changes to Shadow damage modifiers and cases where those modifiers had previously applied more than once.
That distinction matters. A 14% line in patch notes looks enormous, but part of the number is compensating for underlying modifier fixes rather than simply giving Subtlety fourteen percent free damage on top of its old behavior.
Subtlety was already receiving Trickster buffs in the October 6 tuning pass. We covered those changes, alongside Unholy DK, Devourer and Enhancement, in our October 6 class tuning breakdown.
Once live data starts settling, check current builds on our PvE talent pages instead of assuming the pre-patch setup stays optimal.
Delve Recipe Drops and Crafted Decor Also Changed
The same late note update included two smaller quality-of-life changes that are easy to miss.
- Recipe drop rates in Delves have been increased.
- The cost of all crafted decor from pre-Midnight professions has been reduced.
Neither is a headline feature, but both fix the kind of friction players feel every week. If you have been running high-tier Delves and wondering whether recipes actually exist, the answer is apparently yes - Blizzard just decided you should see them more often.
What the Final 12.1 Mythic+ Data Looked Like Before 12.1.5
The patch also lands at an interesting moment for the Season 2 meta.
Using Raider.IO analytics for the final 12.1 reset, Icy Veins reported Arcane Mage still holding a large popularity lead, with Beast Mastery Hunter second and Retribution Paladin third. Unholy Death Knight fell after the Blightfall nerf, while Devourer Demon Hunter and Subtlety Rogue started moving upward after their buffs.
The more interesting number is overall activity: Icy Veins observed roughly 10-15% fewer runs per spec during the week and linked part of that decline to players spending time in the WoW Forever beta.
I would not treat one reset as proof that the Mythic+ population has permanently collapsed. Patch 12.1.5 gives players new raid loot, Labyrinth progression and another wave of dungeon tuning, all of which can pull activity back in different directions.
What Should You Do First in Patch 12.1.5?
If you logged in today with twelve quests, three currencies and no idea which exclamation mark Blizzard expects you to chase first, this is the order I would use:
- Continue The Promise of Tomorrow campaign until you unlock the Kith'ix sequence.
- Use Story Mode if you want to complete Kith'ix immediately without organizing a raid.
- Take the Hero ring or necklace that best fixes your weakest slot.
- Unlock the Labyrinth of Kindo'jan and complete its opening chamber so the full system becomes available to your Warband.
- Check Orin Straylight and the mid-season power systems before spending currencies blindly.
- If you push Mythic+, review the October 13 dungeon nerfs before your first serious key session.
- If you play Subtlety Rogue, re-check your current build and damage profile after the 14% compensation change.

Final Thoughts
Patch 12.1.5 is much easier to appreciate once you stop treating it as a '.5 patch'.
There is a raid boss with real loot, a huge Labyrinth system, a story conclusion, new public events, more mid-season power and meaningful dungeon tuning. That is a lot of reasons to log back in even if you were starting to drift toward other games - or toward the Forever beta.
The launch-day bugs are annoying, especially when they block story progression, but Blizzard moved quickly on What the World Sees and has already acknowledged In the Belly of the Beast.
My recommendation is simple: finish Kith'ix on Story Mode if you are not raiding, take the free Hero-track jewelry, unlock the Labyrinth, and then decide which part of the mid-season refresh actually matters to your character.
And if Arator disappears again, at least this time we know the Void is not to blame.
