Best WoW Forever Addons: 10 Useful Addons for Beta and Launch
Dariz · 10/10/2026
World of Warcraft: Forever is trying to recapture a slower, more social version of Azeroth, but that does not mean everyone suddenly wants to spend twenty minutes searching a hillside because the quest text said the cave was "somewhere to the east."
Addons are already becoming part of the Forever Beta, and the useful ones are not necessarily the giant combat packages people associate with modern raiding. For most players, the biggest wins are much simpler: better quest tracking, cleaner bags, usable Auction House tools, coordinates, map improvements and a little help finding the new things Blizzard has hidden across Azeroth.
The important catch is that Forever is not running the old Classic addon environment. Blizzard has confirmed that Forever shares modern WoW's UI architecture and inherits the addon API restrictions introduced with Midnight. That makes compatibility something you need to check, not assume.
Below are 10 addons that currently have a maintained Forever-compatible build or dedicated Forever flavor and provide useful quality-of-life improvements without requiring the old combat-information access that Blizzard is deliberately limiting.
Quick answer:
For most players, Questie + Leatrix Plus + Bagnon + TomTom is the easiest starter setup. Add Auctionator if you care about gold and professions, and add Leatrix Maps, RareScanner or HandyNotes: WoW Forever if exploration is a major part of why you are playing.

Important: WoW Forever Is Still in Beta
Every recommendation in this guide should be treated as a snapshot, not a lifetime guarantee. Forever is still in Beta, its client is changing quickly, and addons can break between builds even when they worked perfectly the day before.
The safest rule is simple: use the newest release that explicitly lists Forever or game version 1.60.1, and update it after major Beta patches. Do not assume that an old Classic version will work just because Forever looks like Classic on the surface.
This matters especially for addons that store profiles or depend on protected combat information. Beta testers have already reported addon settings and SavedVariables behaving strangely between builds, which is exactly the sort of problem that tends to disappear and reappear during active testing.
Are Addons Allowed in WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard has confirmed that addons are part of WoW Forever.
What changes is how much combat information those addons are allowed to read and process. Forever shares the modern Mainline UI architecture and uses the same general addon "disarmament" direction introduced with Midnight, including secret values and other restrictions intended to stop addons from solving encounters or providing a competitive advantage in real time.
At the same time, Blizzard is moving several formerly mandatory addon jobs into the base game. The built-in Damage Meter is confirmed for Forever, and Blizzard has also discussed bringing its native Cooldown Manager to the mode.
That is why this list leans heavily toward quality-of-life addons. Maps, bags, quest information and Auction House tools remain extremely useful even when the combat API is more restricted.
1. Questie - Best WoW Forever Addon for Leveling
Questie is still the obvious place to start if your priority is efficient leveling.
It adds quest objectives, available quests, NPC locations and useful markers to the world map and minimap. In a Classic-style game where quests are deliberately less guided than modern Retail, that can save an enormous amount of wandering.
Questie is especially relevant because Forever adds more than 1,000 quests across its reworked Azeroth. We have already broken down those broader changes in our WoW Forever changes overview, including Blizzard's plan to make exploration and discovery matter again.
There is a trade-off, though. Some of Forever's best moments will probably come from finding a questline before everyone has turned it into a checklist. If discovery is part of the appeal for you, consider playing new zones without Questie first and turning it on only when you get stuck.
The main Questie project now lists Forever and game version 1.60.1 support on CurseForge.
Best for:
Leveling, quest completion and players who value efficiency over completely blind exploration.
2. Leatrix Plus - Best General Quality-of-Life Addon
Leatrix Plus is the addon that is hardest to remove once you get used to it because it does not solve one giant problem. It quietly fixes twenty small annoyances.
Its options cover questing, chat, tooltips, vendor behavior, minimap tweaks, interface convenience, sounds and many other small systems. That makes it a strong recommendation for almost every type of player, especially if you prefer one lightweight package instead of installing a dozen tiny addons.
The developer has been actively publishing dedicated 1.60.1 Forever releases throughout the Beta. At the time of writing, the Forever branch has already gone through frequent compatibility updates, which is exactly what you want from an addon during a moving Beta.
Best for:
General quality-of-life improvements with minimal UI clutter.
3. Bagnon - Best Bag and Inventory Addon
Forever keeps inventory pressure much closer to Classic than modern Retail, which means bags fill up very quickly once profession materials, consumables, quest items, resistance pieces and gear sets start competing for space.
Bagnon combines your bags into a single inventory window and adds searching, sorting, item counts and bank visibility features. The Forever client already has better bag options than original Vanilla, so Bagnon is not mandatory, but the extra control still makes it useful.
That matches what Beta players are saying. In current community discussions, Bagnon is still being recommended because it can be moved more freely, remembers bank contents and provides inventory-management conveniences that the default combined bag does not fully replace.
The official Bagnon project currently lists a Forever flavor.
Best for:
Inventory management, bank organization and profession-heavy characters.
4. Auctionator - Best WoW Forever Addon for Gold Making
If you plan to level professions, flip materials or simply avoid posting a valuable item for vendor-trash money, Auctionator is one of the easiest recommendations on this list.
It improves the Auction House with better search tools, pricing information, shopping lists, easier posting and item-value tracking. Those features should become more valuable as Forever's economy settles and players begin discovering the prices of new materials, recipes and gear.
Auctionator added Forever support as the Beta opened and its current CurseForge project lists Forever as a supported flavor. Early updates specifically addressed Forever compatibility.
Forever is also putting more weight back on crafting. Blizzard has added hundreds of profession recipes and wants crafted items to remain useful throughout leveling, so the Auction House should matter far more than it does in a throwaway leveling environment.
Best for:
Auction House users, crafters, gatherers and anyone trying to make gold.
5. TomTom - Best Coordinates and Waypoint Addon
TomTom does one job so well that guide writers have spent years assuming you already have it installed.
It lets you create custom waypoints, display coordinates, paste multiple waypoints, place pins through the world map and follow a directional arrow toward your destination. The current release includes official Forever support and game version 1.60.1.
TomTom becomes particularly useful once Forever guides start filling up with /way coordinates for trainers, rares, hidden quest chains, camp locations and new profession content. It also pairs naturally with map addons such as Leatrix Maps and HandyNotes.
Best for:
Coordinates, guide following, navigation and hidden locations.
6. Leatrix Maps - Best Lightweight Map Addon
Leatrix Maps is for players who want a better map without replacing half the interface.
It adds customization and useful exploration options while staying relatively close to the default WoW look. The addon has dedicated 1.60.x Forever builds and is being updated frequently during Beta.
The combination of Leatrix Maps and TomTom is particularly clean: one improves how you interact with the map, the other handles coordinates and waypoints. You get a much better navigation setup without turning Forever into a completely different-looking game.
Best for:
World-map customization and exploration with a lightweight UI.
7. AtlasLoot Classic Forever - Best Addon for Loot Research
AtlasLoot is one of those addons that feels almost inseparable from older versions of WoW. Being able to open an in-game window and check what a dungeon or raid can drop is simply convenient.
Dedicated Forever versions are already available for client 1.60.1, including AtlasLoot Classic Forever builds that cover dungeon, raid and profession loot and are being updated during the Beta.
There is one very important Forever-specific limitation: Blizzard is deliberately hiding item information until items are discovered. The developers have said players will not know every raid item and its stats before the first kills happen, and Forever will not have a Dungeon Journal.
That means an AtlasLoot database cannot magically know information Blizzard has not exposed yet. On the first days of new raid content, expect incomplete tables. In a weird way, that makes the addon more interesting: you get to watch the database fill out as the community actually discovers the loot.
Best for:
Dungeon and raid loot tables, profession items and gear planning after discoveries begin.
8. RareScanner - Best Addon for Rares and Treasures
Forever is adding new zones, new rares and a lot more reasons to explore areas that veterans think they already know.
RareScanner helps detect and track rare enemies, treasures, events and other points of interest. A dedicated Forever 1.60.1 Beta branch is already being actively updated, with multiple Beta releases published since testing began.
The same warning as Questie applies here: new content has to be discovered before any community database can be complete. Do not expect every rare and chest to be documented on day one.
Best for:
Rare hunting, treasure hunting and players who like clearing exploration checklists.
9. Prat 3.0 - Best Chat Addon
Chat addons are not exciting until you spend an evening organizing a dungeon group, whispering crafters and trying to find one message that disappeared five minutes ago.
Prat 3.0 provides extensive chat customization including timestamps, formatting, filtering, player links, history and many smaller options. Its current CurseForge project lists Forever support.
That fits Forever particularly well. Blizzard keeps talking about community, slower group formation and social friction as deliberate parts of the game. If chat is going to matter again, making the chat window better is not the worst use of an addon slot.
Best for:
Chat readability, communication and players who spend a lot of time grouping or trading.
10. HandyNotes: WoW Forever - Best Forever-Specific Exploration Addon
HandyNotes: WoW Forever is the most interesting addon on this list simply because it exists specifically for new Forever content rather than being a long-running addon with compatibility added later.
The plugin adds Forever-specific map markers for rares and other points of interest. Its current 1.60.1 release includes Zephras Isle content and allows players to interact with map pins to set waypoints, link locations in chat, check related achievements and hide markers they no longer need.
It is a plugin for the main HandyNotes addon, so you need the base HandyNotes project installed as well.
This is also the addon most likely to become dramatically more useful after launch. Forever is built around an expanding Azeroth, and a dedicated map database can grow alongside every new zone, rare and collectible Blizzard adds.
Best for:
Forever-specific rares, treasures, map completion and exploration.
Which WoW Forever Addons Should You Install First?
You absolutely do not need all ten. In fact, installing everything before you know what annoys you is a good way to spend an hour configuring menus instead of actually playing.
- Minimal setup — Start with: Leatrix Plus + Bagnon + TomTom
- Fast leveling — Start with: Questie + Leatrix Plus + TomTom
- Gold / professions — Start with: Auctionator + Bagnon + Leatrix Plus
- Explorer — Start with: Leatrix Maps + TomTom + RareScanner + HandyNotes: WoW Forever
- Loot planner — Start with: AtlasLoot Classic Forever + Bagnon
- Social / group player — Start with: Prat 3.0 + Leatrix Plus
If you want one simple recommendation, start with Questie, Leatrix Plus, Bagnon and TomTom. Play for a while, then add tools only when you can name the problem you want them to solve.
What Are WoW Forever Players Actually Using?
There is no single community-approved addon pack yet, which is a good sign this early in Beta.
In current Reddit discussions, Leatrix Plus, Leatrix Maps and Bagnon come up repeatedly as low-friction quality-of-life choices. On Blizzard's Beta forums, players are also talking about Attune, ThreatPlates, Healbot, ThreatClassic2 and Auctionator depending on role.
That tells us something useful: the "best" addons depend heavily on whether you are leveling, tanking, healing, trading or exploring. A Warrior tank may care far more about threat information than a solo Hunter who mainly wants Questie and TomTom.
Icy Veins has also highlighted full UI options such as EllesmereUI and combat tools such as Details. Those can absolutely make sense, but this guide deliberately prioritizes broadly useful addons that improve everyday play without requiring a complete interface rebuild.
Does WoW Forever Have Banned Addons?
There is not a simple blacklist where Blizzard says "Bagnon is allowed, addon X is banned." The bigger issue is what the API permits addons to do.
Forever inherits Midnight-style combat restrictions, including protected or secret values. In practical terms, addons can still customize the interface and provide a lot of useful information, but some of the powerful real-time combat logic players associate with modern WeakAuras, boss mods and advanced combat analysis is intentionally restricted.
Blizzard's goal is to reduce the feeling that downloading a third-party addon is required before you are allowed to raid. That is also why Forever includes Blizzard's built-in Damage Meter and why more native UI tools are planned.
The useful rule is this: do not think in terms of "banned addon names." Think in terms of features the client no longer exposes. An addon can be perfectly legitimate and still lose functionality because the API changed underneath it.
Do You Need Details! in WoW Forever?
Not for basic damage and healing numbers. Forever includes Blizzard's built-in Damage Meter, so the old ritual of installing a meter before your first dungeon is no longer mandatory.
That does not automatically make third-party meters useless. Community guides are already pointing out extra use cases such as threat views and additional presentation options. Whether you want that depends on how much information you actually need.
For a new player, I would start with the native meter. If you reach endgame and discover a specific limitation that bothers you, then look at a maintained Forever-compatible alternative.
What About WeakAuras and Combat Addons?
This is where players coming from older Classic versions need to be careful.
Forever shares Mainline WoW's UI architecture and the addon restrictions introduced with Midnight. Wowhead reported Blizzard's confirmation that these restrictions, including secret values, carry into Forever. That means you should not assume that an old Classic WeakAura package, interrupt tracker or boss helper can be copied across unchanged.
Combat addons will continue to exist, but the design target is clearly different: Blizzard wants fewer addons to have enough information to make combat decisions for you.
How to Install WoW Forever Addons
The easiest route during Beta is an addon manager such as CurseForge because it can show whether a project actually exposes a Forever flavor. If you install addons manually, the same rule still applies: download a build that explicitly supports Forever or client 1.60.1.
- Open your addon manager and select the World of Warcraft: Forever Beta client.
- Search for the addon and confirm that its project lists Forever or game version 1.60.1.
- Install the newest compatible release rather than copying an older Classic folder.
- Restart or reload the game and check the AddOns menu for load errors.
- After a Beta client update, update your addons before assuming they are permanently broken.
For manual installs, place the extracted addon folder inside the Forever client's Interface/AddOns directory. Keep each addon in its own folder and avoid nesting the actual addon folder inside an extra ZIP-name folder.
Should You Use Addons at All in WoW Forever?
That depends on what you want Forever to be.
There is a real argument for starting with almost nothing. Blizzard is deliberately rebuilding Azeroth around discovery, slower leveling and stronger social interaction. Quest arrows, rare alerts and complete loot databases can shave away some of the mystery the developers are trying to restore.
On the other hand, manually dragging six bags around the screen is not sacred game design. Neither is typing coordinates into guild chat like it is 2005.
The best middle ground is to use addons that remove friction without playing the game for you. Leatrix Plus, Bagnon, Auctionator and TomTom are good examples. Then decide for yourself how much discovery you want Questie, RareScanner and HandyNotes to reveal.
If you are still deciding what you actually want to play when Forever launches, our WoW Forever Races & Classes Guide covers every confirmed class/race combination, including the new Undead Paladin, Dwarf Shaman and Skyborne options.
For build planning, you can also use the WoW Forever Talent Calculator to create and share level 10-60 talent builds for all nine launch classes.
And if you want the bigger picture behind Blizzard's design choices, our WoW Forever development direction analysis explains why Forever is being built as a long-term third branch of WoW rather than a short Classic experiment.
WoW Forever Addons FAQ
What are the best WoW Forever addons?
For most players, the strongest starter choices are Questie, Leatrix Plus, Bagnon and TomTom. Auctionator is excellent for professions and gold making, while RareScanner and HandyNotes: WoW Forever are better for exploration.
Does Questie work in WoW Forever?
Yes. The main Questie project currently lists Forever and game version 1.60.1 support. Because Forever adds brand-new quests, some database entries may still be incomplete during Beta and early launch.
Does Bagnon work in WoW Forever?
Yes. The official Bagnon project currently lists a Forever flavor. It remains useful for search, bank snapshots, item counts and inventory control even though Forever has a better default combined-bag option than original Classic.
Does Auctionator work in WoW Forever?
Yes. Auctionator added Forever support when Beta began and its current project lists Forever as a supported flavor.
Does TomTom work in WoW Forever?
Yes. Current TomTom releases include the Forever flavor and game version 1.60.1 support.
Are addons allowed in WoW Forever?
Yes. Addons are supported, but Forever uses the modern Mainline UI architecture and inherits Midnight-style API restrictions that limit access to some combat information.
Does WoW Forever have a built-in damage meter?
Yes. Blizzard has confirmed the built-in Damage Meter for Forever, reducing the need to install a third-party meter just to see basic damage and healing statistics.
Will WeakAuras work normally in WoW Forever?
Do not expect the old Classic or pre-Midnight workflow to work unchanged. Forever inherits the modern restricted addon API, including secret values, so combat automation and real-time information are more limited.
Where should I download WoW Forever addons?
Use maintained addon project pages or a reputable addon manager such as CurseForge and confirm that the selected file lists Forever or version 1.60.1. Avoid random reuploads and outdated Classic builds.
Why can WoW Forever addon databases be incomplete?
Forever includes completely new quests, rares and loot. Blizzard is also intentionally hiding some raid item information until those items are discovered, so third-party databases need time to catch up.
Final Thoughts
The most interesting thing about WoW Forever addons is that Blizzard is not trying to delete them. It is trying to move the line between "useful customization" and "the game expects a third-party program to explain the fight."
That is probably healthy for Forever.
A good addon should make Azeroth easier to live in, not replace Azeroth. Questie helps when a quest description finally defeats your patience. Bagnon keeps your bags from becoming an archaeological site. Auctionator stops you from guessing at prices. TomTom gets you to the cave your guildmate swears is "right there."
Start small. Keep the addons that solve a real problem. Delete the ones you only installed because somebody called them mandatory.
And while the game is still in Beta, update everything before blaming the Murlocs.
